How it works

Verifying your customers with greenID is as simple as 1, 2, 3.

1. Decide what level of identification service you require

Our simplest verification process involves matching your existing customer information against up to five separate databases including:

  • Sensis White Pages
  • Australian Electoral Roll
  • GDC National Telephone File
  • GDC Citizen File
  • The Transaction History Database

If two, three or four matches of name, address or phone records are all you require, greenID can provide verification against these files without requiring any effort or potentially sensitive input from your customers. It's a process that requires no additional information from your customer and will typically verify 30% of your customers.

For more comprehensive verification, we'll ask your customers to prove that they have relationships with various organisations both government and non government.  This kind of search builds on the initial process to meet 85-95% of verification needs.

For some customers however, no electronic verification will be possible. greenID understands this and has built an integrated manual identity verification process into the overall system. Should your customer choose manual verification or if electronic searches fail to deliver the required results, greenID offers the option of identity verification upon physical presentation of identification documents at your local branch office or at the nearest Australia Post office. Alternatively, they can send in certified copies of their documentation.

Through this combination of simple electronic, complex electronic and manual verification method, greenID covers almost all identity verification requirements. The following diagram explains the process:

To take it one step further however, we can even check your customer records against international watch lists including:

  • US Treasury – Office of Foreign Assets Control
  • Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
  • Politically Exposed Persons

2. Decide how you want the verification service to appear to your customers

We can make greenID look and feel like part of your own secure website. Your customers will never know the difference. Or, if your customers are more likely to respond to an independent third party, we can appear under the greenID brand. It's entirely up to you. Once the site is set up, you can start incorporating the verification service into your sign-up process.

3. Monitor the results

greenID provides an Administrator's Dashboard that will keep you informed of the status of all your organisation's verification requests. You can view and export management reports showing the success rate and other statistics for whatever period you specify.
