FAQ

Is my customer's privacy assured?

greenID is analogous to a communications system such as the national telephone network. It operates in a secure environment where no information is retained by the system except for that required for billing purposes. Retained information includes a name, residential address and date of birth, all of which were originally presented and disclosed by the individual, plus the date and time of the lookup and the requesting entity’s identification.

It is important to recognise that greenID seeks identity verification from data sources via a web services call, and does not receive access to the data sources, or have personal data returned aside from the elements already disclosed by the individual as part of the verification process.

How can greenID increase my customer numbers?

Based on our observations, up to one third of potential clients that can not be verified online on their first attempt, drop-out. For many people this will be the last time they access the organisations online facilities.

By enjoying greenID’s exceptional electronic verification (EV) pass rate, our clients have reduced the number of drop-outs and increased their customer numbers significantly.

How will greenID increase our revenue?

As outlined in the above example, higher EV pass rates will deliver a higher number of customers. And customers rarely initiate the EV process until they are ready and willing to commit to purchasing a product or engaging a service.

How can greenID decrease my cost of customer acquisition?

Minimising the number of exceptions could impact the cost of customer acquisition. Other greenID clients have noted significant reductions.
Potential cost reductions include:

  1. reduced origination costs. Allowing customers to act on their own interest while at your website by confirming their identity should improve conversion factors as it is a "one and done” process for the customer - available all day, everyday.
  2. lower direct account application process costs by avoiding multi-step paper exchange where there is also a low level of consumer compliance and follow-up cost.

How can greenID speed up my identification process?

Observations by our clients and current users of greenID indicate that it takes less than a few minutes to verify identification (the actual time varies from user to user), compared with an estimated 2-3 weeks to complete a non-electronic verification where the customer may either go in to a branch or Australia Post, or mail their details.

How can greenID help me to better understand our customers?

Understanding your customer is important when trying to acquire or increase your share of their business. greenID’s administration engine can help you by tracking all steps undertaken by any given individual as part of the verification process. This data includes all partial and complete verifications and could be used to prompt proactive contact with the customer to assist them with clearing any outstanding impediments to your gaining their business. You will be able to gather intelligence such as at what stage in the process the potential customer typically drops out, and use this as the basis for continuous improvement.

How does greenID improve our customer’s experience?

greenID permits an active balance between risk and marketing on your website. This flexibility benefits an organisation as the following examples indicate:

  1. AML Safe Harbour: With greenID you’ll have the benefit of verifying individuals by matching them against a greater number of data sources (which means they have a higher probability of passing).
  2. The potential for even higher verification levels allow an organisation to consider offering more complex products to its customers online; you don’t need to worry about “dumbing down” the product to fit the verification.

How will greenID grow with us?

As your electronic verification requirements develop, greenID will grow with you. Ongoing evolution of greenID in your own environment establishes a fully integrated and seamless electronic verification process for you and your customers. The addition of new data sources as they become available gives your customers more chance of success!

How does greenID compare to other vendors?

greenID shares:

  • some commonalities – the Australian Electoral Roll and Sensis White Pages, OFAC & DFAT lists; and,
  • some MAJOR differences – self verification against numerous secure sources, over 110 international lists and an easy integration with your existing electronic and manual systems.

What are greenID's “out-of-wallet” sources and why are they better?

Every day thousands of people open accounts after some form of verification process. Within a few weeks, most organisations take the verified name and address (which is  two thirds of the three data elements required for “safe harbour”) and use them on direct-mail marketing material. The impact? Any reasonable criminal can gain access to these and with a bit of research, compile a passable identity.

By requiring “out of wallet” sources a criminal has to gain access to identifiers that are normally kept in a secure environment. In addition, the date of birth becomes a required verified element, rather than just being requested. Lastly, the person gains confidence that the process is secure.
